About this artifact

Charles W. Fisher was Prescott Jernegan's accomplice in a scheme to get investors for a company that said it could extract gold from seawater. A friend from Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard, Charles was a diver who assisted in the Electrolytic Marine Salts Company in the late 1890s. Once the scheme was exposed, Fisher disappeared.
