Cribbage was a card game that was commonly played on a whaling ship as a way to pass the time. The board was used for score keeping. This scrimshaw cribbage board was carved from a walrus tusk and decorated with a number of animal hides and an animal clothed and standing like a person. The end is carved with a polar bear's head.
