Running Out of Things to Write

Feb. 22, 1871

... I can't think of much to write. I went to bed last night and got up this morning. We had baked potatoes for supper and biscuits. Would you like to hear some news? Well I don't know of any.

 


After her descriptive entry on Tuesday the 21st, the very next day she appeared to have run out of words. Then, as the month of February neared the end, Laura's journal seemed to indicate that her interest in being at sea was waning. Her entries became brief. For whatever reasons, one or two sentences were all she wrote when she wrote at all.
