Baby Marcus is Born

A little more than a year after returning home to Edgartown from their adventures aboard the Roman, Laura and Prescott’s baby brother Marcus, was born on August 6, 1872. He later attended the Edgartown School like his older siblings, as well as Phillips Academy Andover and Brown College like his brother Prescott.

Marcus would go on to become a teacher and ultimately a doctoral candidate in History from the University of Chicago. He is credited with getting his family to write down their memoirs, thus keeping the story of the Roman alive.
