Martha's Vineyard Museum

Thin, rigid strips of wood or bone inserted into panels in the fabric at the front and center of a lady's corset. Busks were intended to keep the front of the corset upright and neatly in place. Often inscribed, decorated or intricately carved, busks were popular gifts from men to their sweethearts.
